Keesha Sharp Joins Taye Diggs In ‘Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy’ For BET+
Keesha Sharp (Power Book II: Ghost) has been cast as the lead alongside Taye Diggs in Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Productions and Eric Tomosunas’ Swirl Films’ Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy. It will premiere on BET+ later this year.
Based on Ron Stodghill’s book Redbone: Money, Malice, and Murder in Atlanta, Courtney Miller will direct. The script will be written by Gregory R. Anderson.
Lance (Diggs) is a prominent Atlanta businessman who is known for both revamping the city’s 911 system and for his womanizing habits. When he is discovered slain in his own house, there are many questions and suspicions about who might have wanted him dead.
An investigation into the murder is launched which reveals the truths and suspicions behind Lance’s professional and personal life. Was it a business rival, threatened by Lance’s bid for a big contract? Was it a scorned lover jealous of the place occupied in Lance’s bed? The film, much like the book, reconstructs Lance’s life as told by the various players in it.

Keesha Sharp Almost Lost Her Biggest Role Because Of Fear Of Flying
Keesha Sharp, star of “Power” and “Lethal Weapon,” apparently had such a crippling phobia of flying that she turned down parts to avoid traveling.
“When I was afraid of flying, I refused jobs that required me to fly,” she told Page Six. “I will not accept the job if I cannot take the train or drive.”
“It was paralyzing,” she said of her phobia, which began in college. If I did fly, which is quite unlikely. I’d walk on the plane and scream the entire time because I knew I was going to die.”
As a devout churchgoer, the “Why Did I Get Married” actress eventually decided to put her beliefs to the test.
She recalled one lucky acting break was, “one of the biggest gigs of my life. I had to fly all over the world for that gig and I wouldn’t have been able to do it… I just let go and let God.”
She also says, “My husband [actor and singer-songwriter Bradford Sharpe] would fly all over the world.” She says that she’d tell him, “‘I will never go,’ and he [would] say, ‘Keesha please’… He was going to Europe, and I would say I will go, but in my heart, I was like, ‘I’m not gonna go.’”
The New York native, 49, starred in the Fox series “Lethal Weapon” from 2016 to 2019 opposite Damon Wayans as his character’s wife.
“I did not test for it. I didn’t do a chemistry read for it. I just got this gig… Three days later I was shooting,” she told Page Six.
She recalled, “Then I had that moment where I heard clearly heard this voice that said, ‘You don’t live by your faith, yet you are so good at telling other people advice, but you don’t live it.’”
The mother of one starred as Monica on “Girlfriends” from 2002 to 2008.
Sharp currently stars in Hallmark Mahogany’s latest film “Spring Breakthrough.”
