Daddy Freeze, a well-known Nigerian media personality and social commentator, stated in a video posted on his Facebook page that we construct our spirituality in ignorance, which is why many of us are not sensible.
The outspoken personality, noted for his criticism of religious activities, contended that many religious beliefs and rituals are based on ancient traditions and lack empirical support.
In the video, Daddy Freeze said: “Our spirituality is built out of ignorance, that’s why a lot of us are not rational in our thoughts. Some people no longer preach the truth about repentance, they only preach on how God will help you get rich, that’s how bad it is. This makes us think sentimentally, not rationally”.
His statement received mixed reactions from social media users in the comment section. Supporters hailed him for encouraging critical thinking and questioning traditional beliefs, while others vehemently opposed his views, considering them disrespectful to their faith.
Daddy Freeze’s remarks have opened up a broader conversation about the role of spirituality in contemporary society, inviting individuals to reevaluate their beliefs and reflect on the impact of tradition on their rational thinking.
