Pa Monday Igbinidu, a veteran singer from Edo, who accused Shallipopi, a rising star, of illegally sampling his song “Obapluto” (N’ogbaisi), and filed a massive N200 million lawsuit against him.
The renowned singer called out Shallipopi and his mother a week prior for deceitfully contacting him and tipping him N50,000 after the song had already been produced and released.
However, he was given a week to make the necessary preparations, such as crediting Pa Monday in the song.
After the deadline, Pa Monday Igbinidu’s legal team filed a N200M complaint against Shallipopi for copyright infringement.
The title of the document reads, “Copyright infringement of the musical work of Monday Edosomwan Igbinidu alias Monday Edo Igbinidu- Demand to render account, compensation and an apology.”
