Former aviation minister Hadi Sirika is said to be in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the recent “launch” of Nigeria Air.
Sirika arrived to the DSS headquarters in Abuja in a Range Rover SUV for questioning. DSS personnel allegedly interrogated him for several hours.
The questioning comes after Nigeria Air’s acting managing director, Captain Dapo Olumide, confirmed that the plane launched as Nigeria Air actually a chartered Ethiopian Airlines aircraft.
According to Olumide, the aircraft was used to launch the Nigeria Air logo but was not yet operational.
The “launch” of Nigeria Air was widely criticised as a scam.
The plane that was unveiled was revealed to be over 10 years old and had previously been operated by Ethiopian Airlines and Malawi Airlines.
