Reno Omokri, a Nigerian novelist and lawyer, recently shared his thoughts on white/church weddings on social media.
The former presidential assistant expressed his conviction that a church wedding is not required, urging people to break free from religious shackles.
Omokri claimed that, contrary to popular perception, a pastor or prophet cannot bestow holiness on a marriage.
Instead, he highlighted that the only people capable of giving such sanctity are the couple’s parents.
In a series of tweets, Omokri stated:
“Someone said church wedding is necessary because pastors are God’s representatives on Earth. To that man, my question is this: What are your parents? Devil’s representative? No blessing on Earth is greater than parent’s blessing. After God, parents”
While Omokri’s remarks challenge the notion of a church wedding’s significance, he emphasizes the importance of parental blessings and their role in the marital union.
However, numerous people didn’t agree with his veiw of things while some did see reasons in his words.
It is worth noting that Omokri’s views reflect his personal beliefs and perspective on the topic, and they are intended to encourage critical thinking and reevaluation of societal norms surrounding weddings and religious practices.
