BLACK MONDAY: Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Going To Niger Crashes

On Monday afternoon, another Nigerian Air Force aircraft, a MI-171 Helicopter, crashed in Niger State.

The chopper was on a casualty evacuation operation when it crashed in Chukuba Village in the state at about 1 p.m.

According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the force’s spokesperson, the aircraft left Zungeru Primary School en route Kaduna but later crashed near Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

This comes two months after a NAF FT-7NI trainer aircraft crashed in Makurdi, Benue State, while on a routine training exercise.

The NAF says efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the crew and passengers on board the helicopter, while preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the probable cause of the crash.
