Senators have questioned Bosun Tijani, an Ogun state ministry nominee, about a tweet he sent in 2019.
According to the Cable newspaper, when the screening of nominees began on Saturday, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of Oyo North requested Tijani to speak on his 2019 Twitter post.
During the plenary, other senators insisted that the ministerial nominee should answer the question raised by Buhari.
In the tweet, Tijani wrote, “Nigeria is a bloody expensive tag”.
Responding to the questions raised concerning the post, Tijani, CEO and co-founder of CcHub, said he made the tweet out of anger based on an experience at the Chinese embassy.
The ministerial nominee said a Chinese embassy official told him that he will be subjected to further scrutiny because of his Nigerian passport.
He said his Twitter posts were made “out of anger and patriotism” for the country and not hatred.
He added that out of patriotism, he invested in the development of young Nigerians through technology.
