Davido pauses show to pay tribute to Wizkid’s late mother (Video)

NAACP Awards: Davido, Wizkid, Tems, nominated in same category

Popular Nigerian singer and DMW boss, David Adeleke, aka Davido, paused midway into his performance at the Afronation fest in Detroit, United States, on Sunday, to pay tribute to Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of his colleague, Wizkid, who died on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Davido said he was no stranger to grief, stressing that he has lost so many loved ones, including his mum, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle who died many years ago.

He, however, said Wizkid made his mother proud with his musical achievements before she passed on.

Addressing the crowd, Davido said, “Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace.

“I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”
