On Tuesday, the federal government made a verbal request to withdraw charges against Godwin Emefiele in front of Justice Nicholas Oweibo at the federal high court in Ikoyi.
The federal government had earlier accused Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), of illegally possessing firearms.
Mohammed Bakodo Abubakar, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Federal Ministry of Justice, stated that this accusation follows additional investigations.
Emefiele was initially charged with the illegal possession of firearms on July 25 at the same court.
