Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, quickly reversed his remarks after having been captured saying that a little gift had been sent to each senator’s account as they left on vacation.
The lawmakers will reconvene on September 26 after a vacation that began on Monday, August 8.
On August 8, during its plenary, Akpabio said that the clerk of the House had sent a “little token” to each Senator’s account in anticipation of their upcoming vacation.
He didn’t appear to be aware that he was being shown live on television.
“In other to enable all of us to enjoy our holiday, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the National Assembly” he said
It appears that he was immediately alerted that he was on live TV, and he thereafter withdrew his statement, saying;
“I withdraw that statement. In other to allow you enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you on a safe journey and return”
