During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), emphasized that if Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, had been a stronger contender, Nigerians would have shown their support for him in the general election on February 25, 2023.
Wike, who is also the former governor of Rivers State, admitted that he openly endorsed President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the fiercely contested election.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he avoids discussing presidential candidates at this time.
However, he said, “I don’t discuss presidential candidates any longer; I discuss the economy, the president, what he has to offer.
“If he (Obi) would have been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”
