Emir Sanusi meets Niger coup leaders

The 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, met with the military junta in Niamey in what looks to be a bold attempt to appease the coup leaders in the Niger Republic.

Despite not receiving a response to a phone sent to the Emir, the Telegraph stated that the coup leaders were overjoyed with Sanusi’s arrival.

Unconfirmed reports claim that the coup leaders paid attention to the Emir’s demands, including one asking them to offer a window of amicable solutions to the issues.

The new military junta gave Sanusi a warm welcome as he was taken to Niamey, the capital of the Niger Republic, by some of his closest friends and employees.

The meeting reportedly focused on the way out of the quagmire in the country.

ECOWAS leaders are scheduled to meet on Thursday for the next line of action after the seven-day deadline given to the coupists elapses.
