“How some of my colleagues were blackl!sted because they refused to compromise” Biodun Okeowo speaks on the ills in the movie industry

Biodun Okeowo, commonly known as Omoborty, a Yoruba Nollywood actress, has spoken out about the industry’s flaws.

The single mother of two described how some of her colleagues were blacklisted from film opportunities because they refused to compromise their ideals in the presence of powerful people.

She said that some of them had their children taken home from school since they hadn’t been offered work and couldn’t afford school fees back then.

However, with God’s help, they were able to overcome those challenges and now have the choice to choose whether or not to act.

“Hmmm, shall we discuss the subtle blackl!sting, where certain individuals were excluded from movie roles simply because they refused to compromise their principles with influential figures? Some of us experienced the embarrassment of having our children sent home from school back then because we weren’t being offered work and couldn’t pay school fees.

But by the Grace of God, we’ve overcome those challenges. Now, we have the freedom to choose if we still want to act or not.
Because movie making no longer dictates our livelihood or pays our bills”.

Biodun Okeowo stated this while agreeing with her colleague, Nkechi Blessing, on the industry’s faults.

Nkechi had gotten irritated with several of her coworkers who were fond of badmouthing others to movie producers/directors.

The curvy actress remarked on how such people deprive their colleagues, with whom they have personal beef, opportunities to star in films by badmouthing them to film producers and directors.

Nkechi told them that their days will soon come to an end.
