President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria recently appeared on Arise, where he addressed different facets of his leadership and acknowledged Nigerians’ struggles. He spoke about the country’s economic issues, the struggles of schools and companies, and the impact of the fuel price hike on critical necessities.
President Tinubu acknowledged the pain caused by the elimination of fuel subsidies, but noted his limited capacity to remedy the situation. He expressed empathy for Nigerians’ struggles and expressed a desire to explore other solutions, despite the limits.
In his own words, President Tinubu stated, “Over the past two months, we have saved over a trillion naira that would have been misappropriated through unproductive fuel subsidies, benefiting only smugglers and fraudsters.”
