Harry Potter’s Dumbledore actor, Michael Gambon, dies at 82

The family of Sir Michael Gambon announced today that the actor passed away peacefully in hospital at the age of 82 after battling pneumonia.

Sir Michael was widely recognized for his portrayal of Professor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight Harry Potter movies, and he also appeared in the film Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Publicist Clair Dobbs shared a statement on behalf of Lady Gambon and their son Fergus Gambon, as reported by the Daily Mail.



The statement read, “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.


“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82.

“We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.’
