On Wednesday, the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal judges opted not to appear in person.
Today, the tribunal will deliver a verdict on the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)’s election win.
The court was closed to reporters, solicitors, party members, and others.
The proceedings began before 10 am, with Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, the panel’s chairman, addressing via Zoom.
The secretariat announced that the judgment would not be broadcasted live and the limited number of journalists allowed in the court were prohibited from using smartphones or cameras.
Earlier, top security officials expressed uncertainty about the judges’ whereabouts and speculated the possibility of virtual proceedings.
