Ugandan church breaks Guinness World Record for 'Longest Clap' (Video)

A Uganda group has made history by breaking the record for the longest clap, according to the Guinness World Records’ verified Instagram page.

The impressive feat was accomplished by a church in Kampala, Uganda, known as Phaneroo Ministries Church, during their ninth anniversary celebration titled “Clap For Jesus.”

With an unwavering spirit and uncontained enthusiasm, the church congregation clapped continuously for an astounding 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Their heartfelt applause echoed throughout the church, reaching an average sound level of 88.5 decibels (dB), exceeding the minimum requirement of 80 dB set by Guinness World Records for the achievement to be recognized.

“Clap For Jesus” was a remarkable event where 926 participants clapped continuously for three hours and 16 minutes.

Guinness World Records stated that in order for it to be an official record, the sound level had to remain above 80 dB throughout the entire duration.

Grace Lubega, the church’s leader, organized the event with the aim of bringing people together to express gratitude and celebrate.

The atmosphere was vibrant, and stewards ensured that participants clapped without any breaks.

Not only were the witnesses in the hall able to witness this accomplishment, but the event was also livestreamed for a larger audience.

The Uganda Standards Agency and the national basketball governing body closely monitored the event to ensure its authenticity.

By surpassing the previous record of two hours and five minutes set by Clark Stevens and The Festival of Awesomeness in the United Kingdom in 2019, the Ugandan church achieved an extraordinary feat.

Guinness World Record in an Instagram post wrote; “Longest applause 3 hr 16 min 1 sec by Grace Lubega Matovu and Clap For Jesus Team ”

“The record attempt was organised “to send a message to the world that regardless of the struggles and difficulties, we must have room for gratitude and thanksgiving.”
