The application by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to present new evidence in his appeal against President Bola Tinubu has been dismissed by the Supreme Court due to lack of jurisdiction.
The Supreme Court described Atiku’s petition as a mere joke and maintained that it could not be granted.
Atiku had requested the court’s permission to introduce fresh evidence of forgery against Tinubu. He emphasized the constitutional and democratic implications of the matter and urged the court to look into it.
The new evidence that Atiku intended to present was Tinubu’s academic records from the Chicago State University (CSU), which he had received on October 2nd.
Atiku argued that this evidence was crucial to his appeal and contended that the court had the inherent jurisdiction to consider and make a decision on his application.
