The Court of Appeal in Abuja has rejected the appeal made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Titus Uba, who ran in the last governorship election in Benue state.
They were challenging the September 23 ruling of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which dismissed their petition against the victory of Hyacinth Alia from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 election.
A three-member panel of the court unanimously determined that the appeal lacked merit, as the issues raised in the petition were pre-election matters.
Furthermore, the PDP and its candidate were unable to sufficiently prove their claim of forgery against the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Samuel Ode, as required.
