Burna Boy, a Nigerian award-winning Afrobeat singer, has revealed the astonishing reason he turned down a $5 million offer in Dubai.
According to the Grammy winner, he declined a lucrative opportunity to perform in the United Arab Emirates, UAE, because he would be prohibited from smoking marijuana while there.
He mentioned that smoking is prohibited in parks, beaches, and other public recreational areas in Dubai under Emirati law.
Burna added that he can’t go to any place where he would be restricted to smoke.
“Just now I turned down Dubai money, 5 million dollars na small thing cos me I no dey like to dey go where Dem no go gree allow me to smoke Igbo”.
His statement has sparked mixed reactions as many tried defending the singer’s choice.
