JUST IN: Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, freezes all state, local government accounts

Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has ordered that all state and local government accounts be frozen immediately.

This declaration is contained in a statement issued by the Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in which he indicated that no payments from the government account should be made to anyone from now on.

This comes just a few days after the governor chastised some members of his cabinet and local government chairmen for betrayal and disloyalty during the state’s off-cycle governorship election on November 11.

The commissioner in the statement pointed out that all standing orders and investment instructions are hereby cancelled forthwith.
