After the third reading, the National Assembly passed the N2.17 trillion 2023 Appropriation Bill on Thursday.
The budget was adopted during the plenary session after Senator Adeola Olamilekan (Ogun West) presented the Appropriations Committee’s report.
President Tinubu requested approval of his proposal from federal lawmakers in a letter read in both chambers.
This is the second such request this year, with the prior approval of N819.5 billion focused at assisting underprivileged Nigerians.
In the letter, the president stressed the significance of implementing more palliative measures, like as salary increases for public employees and an expanded Cash Transfer Program, to assist society’s most vulnerable members.
