Neymar to be deregistered by Al-Hilal

BRA 5-1 BOL: Records Neymar has set as he passes Pele to become Brazil’s all time top goal scorer

According to Goal, Al-Hilal is reportedly ready to remove Neymar from their squad for the season due to a knee injury he sustained while playing for Brazil.

The Saudi Pro League side is said to be interested in signing more European players in the upcoming January transfer window.

Neymar suffered a serious knee injury during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay and recently had surgery to repair his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.

He is expected to be out of action for the remainder of the season.

Al-Hilal is considering deregistering him from the Saudi Pro League to make room for another foreign player, as league rules only allow for a maximum of eight non-Saudi players on each team.

Currently, the team has seven overseas players, not including Neymar.

Moreover, Al-Hilal’s manager, Jorge Jesus, aims to strengthen the team with a foreign left-back and hence the decision has been made. However, he will be welcomed back when he regains fitness ahead of the 2024-25 season.
