BREAKING: NLC, TUC Fixes Date To Declare Total Nationwide Strike

NLC begins indefinite strike in Oyo State

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have jointly declared a nationwide strike starting from Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

This decision was reached after an unprecedented meeting of the National Executive Council in Abuja on Tuesday.

Both major labor unions have already commenced a nationwide mobilization campaign with their members and supporters.

The assault on NLC National President Joe Ajaero in Imo State last week was the catalyst for the Organized Labour movement’s decision to take action.

The Organized Labour expressed widespread outrage, accusing Imo State Police Commissioner Mohammed Barde of complicity in the recent attack on Ajaero in Owerri, the state capital.

Last Friday, the Organized Labour issued a five-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding the replacement of the police commissioner and also holding Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is campaigning for re-election, responsible for the attack on Ajaero.
