Susan Sarandon Dropped by UTA Over Comments About Israel-Hamas Conflict

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Susan Sarandon has been dropped by the United Talent Agency.

According to a UTA spokesman, the agency no longer represents the Oscar winner. The split followed controversial remarks on Nov. 17 during a pro-Palestinian protest in New York City’s Union Square.

“There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence,” Sarandon told the rally, as she pointed to American Jews fearful over rising antisemitism.

Sarandon, who has been a client of UTA since 2014, has long been renowned as an outspoken supporter for progressive issues. Sarandon has previously worked for ICM Partners for 25 years.

Other inflammatory remarks made in the aftermath of the Israel-Hamas conflict have shook the Hollywood agency world. CAA co-chief of the motion pictures department Maha Dakhil, whose A-list clients include Tom Cruise, Natalie Portman, and Reese Witherspoon, had to apologize for an Instagram post critical of Israel during the conflict with the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza.

And Kitty Laing stepped down as head of comedy at United Agents, a top U.K. talent agency, but will remain with the company, after social media reposts and shares that were highly critical of Israel as that country fights a war in Gaza.
