Physically challenged actress Doris Akonanya recently disclosed that she often attracts men who are interested in dating her out of pity because of her condition.
In a candid interview with Yan Kontent Factory, the Nigerian actress shared various aspects of her life, including her experiences in the film industry and personal relationships.
Despite her differently-abled status, Doris Akonanya emphasized that she is capable of doing everything else just like anyone else.
She also shed light on her time in Nollywood, revealing that she, like many actresses, encountered movie producers and directors who attempted to take advantage of her.
In addition to her acting career, Doris mentioned that she earns extra income by selling photos and videos of herself in revealing attire to a group of individuals she refers to as “Devotees.”
These individuals, whom she claims have a particular interest in amputees, have a passion for her images and willingly purchase them from her.
Furthermore, the actress discussed the divide between Asaba movie actors, commonly known as “Asabahood,” and their counterparts in Lagos.
She added that those in Asaba make more relatable films, which makes them more popular among viewers, as opposed to other performers who ‘copy the whites’.
When asked if she is treated differently by people, she said that she is and that she dislikes it because it is mainly motivated by pity.
Doris acknowledged at one point that she misses being in a romantic relationship because it has been so long since she was in one.
She claims she has no recollection of what it’s like to be called every morning and night.
