Chioma Ikokwu, who is popularly known as Chioma Goodhair and stars on the show “Real Housewives of Lagos,” recently spoke openly about her past abusive relationship.
During a candid interview on Toke Makinwa’s podcast “Toke Moments,” Chioma disclosed the details of her first relationship, which was marked by extreme violence and led to her being hospitalized twice.
Chioma Goodhair revealed that, after enduring episodes of abuse, she would lock her boyfriend out of her home.
However, he would persistently plead for forgiveness, spending days outside her residence regardless of the weather.
Eventually, Chioma would give in and allow him back in, only for the cycle of abuse to continue.
Despite being a strong person, Chioma admitted that she continually found herself returning to the abusive relationship.
The violence she endured was so severe that it resulted in her being hospitalized on two separate occasions.
Chioma Goodhair confided in her friend Kiko about the abuse but asked her to keep it a secret, as she battled with the shame associated with the situation.
Chioma described her ex-partner as narcissistic. He would often attempt to explain away the incidents to others, even lying that Chioma had accidentally hurt herself. She recalled a particularly brutal incident where a blow from him caused her nose to shift.
“I’ve been in a relationship that was violent, like my first relationship I remember the first time he did it, he stayed outside of my house, he slept outside of my house for three days on the floor in the rain, sunshine, everything, he was begging.”
“ Obviously by the fourth day, I’m not a devil, I was like come in to sleep on the corridor. I woke up in the middle of the night, he was next to me on the bed and they beg, they come and shower you with gifts and tell you all these things and I’m a very strong, you know that I’m a strong person, but even I, went back. and then it happened the second time.”
