Skit maker turned actress Pelumi Olawuni popularly known as Abike Shugaa has revealed that she was emotional from the beginning to the last day of filming Toyin Abraham’s Malaika.
Abike who plays the role of Chichi, Toyin’s onscreen stepdaughter, revealed this on the red carpet at the movie premiere held over the weekend.
“I was emotional from the first day till the 100 days. It resonated with me so much, it reminded me of things that I have gone through. It was just a lot, broken home, being raised by a single mother, he was a single father at a time but he remarried and he had to divide my love with whoever the woman was I don’t like it,” she said.
Speaking about her relationship with Toyin, Abike said: “The relationship with mama Toyin Abraham, I don’t think anybody could foresee the kind of relationship we have we always have conversations, we always have to sit together, she always reminds me why I was Chichi instead of being Abike. She always reminded me why she is playing my stepmother. “
Quoting Toyin’s words to her, the actress said: “Forget the fact that I love you now, just hate me for a minute,” and that is what I was doing.
