Neymar to miss 2024 Copa América in U.S over knee injury

The national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, has officially stated that Brazil’s forward, Neymar, will not be included in the team for the 2024 Copa América in the United States.

This decision comes as a result of a severe knee injury Neymar sustained in October.

During Brazil’s World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, the 31-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.

He underwent surgery two weeks after the incident.

The Copa América tournament is scheduled to commence on June 20 and conclude with the final on July 14.

“It’s too early. There’s no point in skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks.

“Our expectation is that he will be prepared to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August,” Lasmar told Brazil’s Rede 98.
