Serie A: Milan goalkeeper walks off pitch following racist chant during match

After racial chants were directed towards Milan’s goalie Mike Maignan by some Udinese supporters, a fan has been identified and will face legal action.

The public prosecutor’s office in Udine has launched a criminal investigation against the Udinese supporter involved in racially abusing Maignan during their recent match at the Stadio Friuli.

The incident took place during Milan’s 3-2 victory over Udinese on Saturday.

The investigation aims to identify all individuals responsible for the incident and gather specific details about the racist behavior.

In response to the chants, Maignan walked off the pitch, resulting in a five-minute pause in the game.

The 46-year-old Udinese supporter has been given an order prohibiting him from entering stadiums for up to five years, and Udinese has taken further action by banning him for life.

As a consequence of the incident, Udinese has been ordered to play their next Serie A home match against Monza on February 3rd behind closed doors.
