Panic as explosion rocks Lagos

Many Feared Dead As Terrorists Bomb Catholic Church In Ondo

Some residents and motorists in Lagos state are experiencing fear and unease following an explosion of a gas tanker in Ifako Ijaye local government area.

The incident occurred around Toyin Bus Stop in Iju Ishaga area of the state at approximately 10:15 pm. Emergency services are currently at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

The extent of casualties is currently unknown, but there were reports of destroyed properties, particularly shops, due to the explosion.

Director Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Magaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, said, “We are on top of the situation. Our men are on ground to put out the raging fire. Update coming soon.”

According to Adeseye, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending a fire explosion at Agbado Road, Toyin Bus Stop, Iju Ishaga.

“The Fire which was reported at 22:04hrs Tuesday as a result of a gas tanker that accidentally caught fire and accompanied with explosion, has been confined to the tanker and adjoining row of shops it spread to as concerted efforts are ongoing to forestall further spread to protect the environment and property including the nearby Kerosene Petroleum Filling Station.

“The agency is assuring the public of their safety and admonishing them to be as distance as possible from the scene while naked flames should be avoided for now within the vicinity.

“Update to follow as situation unfolds.”
