Nigerian music sensation Kcee has stunned many with his recent statement, opening up about his path to success and shedding light on his early career days.
During a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, the singer shared that he and his brother, Emeka Okonkwo, also known as E-Money and co-founder of Five Star Music, were originally DJs before they entered the music industry.
Kcee revealed that his father, who was a DJ himself, played a significant role in shaping his career.
He mentioned that he learned how to sell records from his father while he was still in secondary school.
The singer accredited his success in the music industry to his ability to recognize and appreciate good songs.
In his words:
“My father was a DJ, a record seller. I grew up in a home where my father sold records. So all the old-school artists, I know them [their music]. I was selling their records when I was about 5 or 6 years old.
“When I was in secondary school, I was already handling a full record store and playing at parties. I and E-Money were DJs. So, I listened to a lot of artists.”
