The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has called on Muslims in Nigeria to watch for the appearance of the crescent moon marking the beginning of Sha’aban 1445AH after sunset on Saturday, 29th Rajab, 1445AH (February 10, 2024) in preparation for Ramadan.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the NSCIA, Prof Salisu Shehu, announced on behalf of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, that according to scientific calculations, the expected time for the moon’s conjunction is Friday, February 9, 2024, at 11:59pm.
He emphasized that it is important to note that the moon becomes visible after the conjunction has occurred, taking into account various environmental factors.
It should be remembered that Sha’aban, as the eighth month of the lunar calendar, indicates that Ramadan (the ninth lunar month) is approximately one month away.
