Shakira has announced that she will be releasing her first album in seven years titled Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran on 22 March.
This new record is a follow-up to her 2017 album El Dorado.
“Making this body of work has been an alchemical process,” Shakira, 47, said in a press release. “While writing each song I was rebuilding myself. While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength.”
The 16-track album will feature seven previously released songs, including Te Felicito and Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.
Shakira hinted at the upcoming album on Sunday through an Instagram video featuring clips from her past singles, captioning it with “Stay tuned.”
In September last year, Shakira opened up about being a musician while also being a single mother to her two sons, Milan and Sasha, who she shares with her ex-partner Gerard Piqué.
“The last time I released an album was six years ago. Now I can release music at a faster clip, although sometimes I think being a single mom and the rhythm of a pop star aren’t compatible,” she said at the time. “I have to put my kids to bed, go to the recording studio; everything is uphill.”
