As Barcelona seized control of the game, Fermin Lopez put the result beyond doubt with a late header, sealing all three points for the visitors.
Atletico Madrid’s frustrations were compounded further when Nahuel Molina was shown a red card in added time.
Atletico Madrid’s slip in form has left them outside the Champions League qualification spots with nine games to go.
