Doja Cat called out her over 24 million Instagram followers before ultimately deleting her account on the platform.
The 28-year-old rapper, known as Paint the Town Red, faced a drop of almost 200,000 followers in July 2023 after criticizing those who identified as “kittenz.”
She told them to, “get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
Doja Cat,whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, decided to deactivate her account for the sake of her mental well-being.
“Hey I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore,” she wrote, according to the website Complex. “You guys take care of yourselves.
“I like coming here to find inspo (inspiration) and see people being creative but I just feel like this is getting to be too much. The way I’m spoken to on here and treated makes me have f**ked up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye.”
Despite the backlash she received last summer, Doja still had a massive following of over 24 million on Instagram before her account was deleted.
