Famous media personality VJ Adams, born Adams Ibrahim Adebola, shared a story from early in his career where he went unpaid for eight months but chose to persevere.
In an interview with Chude, the respected presenter mentioned that he continued working while other colleagues left due to not receiving payment.
When asked about the company’s identity, VJ Adams opted to remain discreet. He explained that he felt passionate about the work and was content to keep going despite the lack of compensation.
Additionally, VJ Adams encouraged young presenters who joined the team to also continue working without payment.
He expressed regret for this circumstance on the show, emphasizing that no one should have to work without receiving their rightful compensation.
In his words: “All other presenters resigned; they left. So there was a demand for the work to continue, and I was willing. I was working non-stop. I was showing up every day. No one should, though. At some point when other people, younger presenters, joined, and I think I’m gonna apologize to them now, I almost used because I was older and I was working to tell them to also continue working. That’s a terrible thing to do. I shouldn’t have.”
