Harry Kane continued to make Bundesliga history, scoring a hat trick in Bayern Munich’s 8-1 victory over Mainz.
The England captain scored a hat-trick and assisted in the decisive victory.
Kane’s effort against Mainz brought his season goal contribution total to an incredible 46.
This is the highest among players from Europe’s top five leagues. In addition, he became the first Bundesliga player to score four hat-tricks in his debut season.
In addition, Kane scored two or more goals in eight games in his first Bundesliga season, surpassing the previous record set decades ago.
His goals and assists have been instrumental for Bayern, especially in a season where they have faced challenges in the Bundesliga.
The 30-year-old striker has now scored 36 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this season, with 30 of those goals coming in 25 Bundesliga games.
Kane’s goal-scoring prowess has equalled the record for most goals scored in a debut Bundesliga season.
This puts him in contention to break Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga scoring record of 41 goals.
With nine games remaining, Kane can surpass Lewandowski’s record.
Bayern Munich are now seven points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with Leverkusen having a game in hand.
