I was depressed after my concert at Freedom City flopped – Martha Mukisa

Singer Martha Mukisa initially appeared joyous after her concert at Freedom City on Friday, May 12, 2023, expressing happiness during interviews and promising to continue doing concerts annually.

However, it was later revealed that she was actually struggling with depression following the disappointing turnout at her concert titled Sisaaga.

“I was disappointed that people didn’t turn up as I expected at my first concert. I went into depression of the words on social media and the losses I incurred during the organization of the concert”, Martha said during an interview on Urban TV.

Mukisa stopped releasing music in order to focus on her recovery from the shock of the low attendance.

“People around me helped me to recover and I am okay now. I am releasing my album of three songs and I hope people will enjoy it. In case you’re depressed, talk to people. You will recover faster”, she said.

One factor contributing to the poor turnout was a prior stampede at the venue on New Year’s Day in 2023, which resulted in casualties and instilled fear among potential concert-goers.
