Senator Ayogu Eze from Enugu State has reportedly passed away.
Having been born in 1958, he reached the age of 66.
He represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to reports,Ayogu Eze, a former Senate spokesman, succumbed to his illness in an Abuja hospital.
The source mentioned that the late Senator had been unwell, preventing him from attending his child’s wedding ceremony earlier in the year in Lagos State.
Originally a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he later switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and contested in the Enugu State governorship election.
During his time in the Senate, he was designated as the chairman of the senate committee on Information and Media, assuming the role of the official spokesman of the senate in 2007.
Upon his reelection to the senate in 2011, he was appointed as the chairman of the committee on works.
Senator Eze also contributed as a member of various committees including Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
In May of the previous year, the Senate ratified the selection of Eze and five others as Federal Commissioners for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.
