Okuneye Idris, alias Bobrisky, a controversial crossdresser, may be detained over the Eid-ul-Fitri holiday.

Bobrisky was arrested on April 3 and convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5, 2024, after pleading guilty to naira abuse allegations brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The EFCC charged Bobrisky with six counts, the first four for Naira abuse and the last two for alleged money laundering.

Before reading the accusations, the EFCC prosecutor asked the court to dismiss counts 5 and 6.

Bobrisky pleaded convicted to four counts of Naira abuse.

He, however, sought to be pardoned, stating that he was unaware of the regulations governing Naira abuse and vowed to educate his fans on social media about it.

The sitting Judge on the case adjourned sentencing till April 9th, a date that now officially has been declared a public Holiday by the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to celebrate the Eid-il-Fitri break, and the sitting may not hold except Justice Awogboro decided to sit today for the sentencing.

The controversial crossdresser will likely spend his holiday in detention.
