The Nigerian Correctional Service has guaranteed Mr Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, that he will be secure in the male side of the jail facility for the duration of his six-month sentence.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court sentenced Bobrisky to prison after he pleaded guilty to a four-count allegation of naira misuse.
During the court proceedings, Bobrisky clarified his gender status, affirming that he identifies as a man.
Prison officials, however, assured that adequate measures would be taken to protect Bobrisky from potential sexual violations from other inmates.
“He shouldn’t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can give him protection,” they assured.
