FA Cup: Man United survive incredible Coventry comeback to win semifinal on penalties

Manchester United endured one of the most remarkable comebacks in FA Cup semi-final history, ultimately prevailing over second-tier Coventry City in a penalty shootout following an enthralling encounter that concluded 3-3 after extra time at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Manchester United seemed to be on course for their 22nd FA Cup final victory, courtesy of goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes.

Notwithstanding, Coventry, appearing in their first FA Cup semi-final since 1987, mounted a resurgence with goals from Ellis Simms and Callum O’Hare, before Haji Wright calmly converted a stoppage-time penalty.

A last-minute goal by Coventry’s substitute Victor Torp was annulled, although he believed he had secured the win.

Despite Casemiro faltering in the penalty shootout for United, they rallied back and secured their place in the final against Manchester City with Rasmus Hojlund’s successful penalty kick.
