Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, has denied claims that Governor Usman Ododo shielded ex-Governor Yahaya Bello from arrest by the EFCC.
Fanwo made this statement during an interview on Channels Television.
Fanwo emphasized that a state high court injunction is in place to prevent harassment of Bello by the EFCC.
He praised the governor for being a law-abiding leader who upholds the rule of law and the Nigerian Constitution.
“Governor Ododo did not assist in Bello’s departure from his residence; the EFCC’s claims are misinformation aimed at furthering their objectives.
“Bello is not evading anyone; the existing court injunction protects his fundamental rights,” he said.
Reports emerged that EFCC operatives had surrounded Bello’s residence in Abuja, but Ododo arrived and later left the premises with Bello.
The EFCC subsequently declared Bello wanted and placed him on a security watchlist by the federal government.
