A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, often known as Bobrisky, of misusing the Naira. Justice Abimbola Awogboro rendered the verdict after reviewing the case’s facts.

During the hearings, Bobrisky, in his allocutus, informed the court that he was unaware of the legislation governing Naira abuse.

He emphasized his standing as a social media influencer with over five million followers. However, the judge reminded him that ignorance of the law does not constitute an excuse.

Bobrisky regretted his acts and wanted a second chance to use his platform to educate his fans about the consequences of spraying money. He promised to prepare a video for his social media.

In response, the judge acknowledged Bobrisky’s plea but stressed the importance of upholding the law. Despite the plea for leniency, the court proceeded with the conviction.

Bobrisky was initially arraigned on four counts of naira abuse by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The cross-dresser, who refers to himself as the “Mummy of Lagos,” pleaded guilty to the charges during the trial.
