Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a police spokesperson, has spoken out against cross-dressing in Nigeria.
In an interview with Channels TV, the host questioned the police spokesperson on why cross-dressers like BobRisky and others are not arrested and harassed by the police. However, the police spokesman disclosed that they had not been detained since the issue was extremely complex.
He stated that in Nigeria, cross-dressing is not yet a serious offence, but being queer is. He further noted that even if there are rumors of cross-dressers being members of the LGBTQ community, there is no particular evidence to back it up, thus they cannot take them to court.
He further stated that if they are taken to court, you will lose in court because there is no strong evidence to support your claims.
