At least ten people were injured on Wednesday when a Boeing 737 plane carrying 85 people skidded off a runway at the airport in Dakar, Senegal’s capital.
The Minister of Transportation, Malick Ndiaye, validated that the impacted aircraft was an Air Sénégal flight that was operated by TransAir in the airport.
Ndiaye revealed that the aircraft was en route to Bamako on Wednesday night with 79 passengers, two pilots, and four cabin crew members.
The Minister affirmed that the injured individuals were receiving medical attention at a medical facility, while the remaining passengers were accommodated at a hotel for rest.
The Aviation Safety Network, an organization that monitors aviation incidents, released images of the aircraft wreckage located in a grassy area surrounded by fire retardant foam.
One of the engines seemed to have fragmented, and there was visible damage to one of the wings, as depicted in the photographs.
