EPL: I asked Man Utd for Harry Kane, they signed Holjund – Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag 'reaches Verbal agreement' to become next Manchester United Manager

Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, admitted that he had hoped to sign Harry Kane for the club last summer, but they ultimately acquired Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Hojlund arrived at United from Atalanta in a £72 million transfer, while Kane made a move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham for £100 million.

In his first season at Old Trafford, Hojlund has scored eight goals in 26 league appearances, whereas Kane has found the back of the net 35 times in 31 Bundesliga matches for Bayern.

“We have had some choices made with talents like Rasmus Hojlund.

“I can see a striker who already proved it, who we want to sign and we couldn’t get him. And then we went to Rasmus because he’s a talent,” Ten Hag said during an interview with Gary Neville for Sky Sports.

Ten Hag was specifically asked if he was talking about Kane and he replied: “Yes, and you know Harry Kane will get you 30 goals.
