Drama Unveiled: The Real Housewives of Johannesburg Canceled Amid Controversy

After numerous disagreements and conflicts behind the scenes, it has been confirmed that The Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) has been officially canceled.

The popular reality show, famous for its glamorous cast and intense storylines, was ended following ongoing disputes between Sonia Mbele’s production company and Multichoice, as reported by ZiMoja.

Insiders have revealed that the decision to cancel the show was primarily driven by tensions between the channel and producer Sonia Mbele, a well-known former Generations actor.

A letter obtained by ZiMoja stated that Multichoice opted not to renew the series after a thorough business review.

Allegedly, tensions escalated when Sonia was instructed to no longer communicate directly with the show’s creators at NBC in the United States.

“She is good at what she does and she is the one who brought the franchise to SA,” said a source close to the situation.

Another insider mentioned that while Sonia is not overly concerned about the cancellation, she is frustrated by attempts to discredit her work. “The show created stars such as Christal Kay, Evodia aka Madam, and her daughter Mercy, who became instant superstars during its debut season,” the source added.

Nomsa Philiso, CEO of General Entertainment at Multichoice, declined to comment on the matter, stating, “I have no comment on this one.” Sonia Mbele confirmed that she has been informed of the show’s cancellation. “My job is to set trends and let the rest follow. They must just pay me what they owe me,” she concluded.

The conclusion of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg marks a significant moment in South African reality television, prompting fans and cast members to ponder its impact and legacy.”
