According to an announcement from the PGA Tour, Grayson Murray, a 30-year-old US golfer and two-time PGA Tour winner, has passed away.
Murray had withdrawn from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday due to illness after completing 16 holes in his second round.
“We are devastated and heartbroken to share that Grayson Murray passed away this morning,” said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan on Saturday.
“I am at a loss for words. The PGA Tour is a family, and losing a member of our family is profoundly painful. We mourn Grayson and extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
The PGA Tour has made grief counsellors available for players at the event.
Murray, a rising star in golf, had secured three significant victories in his early career.
